the distinguished people who will receive an Honorary Award
from Leeds Metropolitan University during this year’s

Ruth Pickford and Nick Beech of Leeds Metropolitan
University demonstrated their dedication to excellence

and learning and have each won a prestigious national

Over 1,200 young
people across the region were selected to represent
their district in the biggest annual multi-sport
event for young people in West Yorkshire held at
Leeds Met’s Headingley Campus on Sunday 27 June.
Womens
Fun Run - 25/06
The Leeds Met Women’s Fun Run, which took place at
the Headingley Campus, was won by 13 year-old Hannah Seddon
of Garforth Community College. In joint second place were
Leeds Met New Zealand student Leanne O’Leary and
Jill Holmes from Birkenshaw.
Primary Summer School - 24/06
The second Primary Summer School, aimed at introducing
Year 6 pupils to Higher Education, was held at Leeds
Met from 23 until 29 June.

to entrepreneurship from HEIF - 22/06
Seven Yorkshire Universities, led by Leeds
Metropolitan University, have been awarded £919,000
over two years by the National Higher Education Innovation
Fund (HEIF)
to support knowledge transfer from universities to business
and the wider community, as part of its drive to boost
the UK's innovation performance and productivity.
